The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, represented by Mr. Chinthaka Liyanaarachchi, Deputy Director of Marketing, alongside 19 leading travel and hospitality enterprises, is proudly participating in the Guangzhou International Travel Fair (GITF). The event runs from May 21 to 23, 2026, at the Canton Fair Complex. This prestigious gathering offers an excellent platform to further strengthen the enduring friendship and growing people-to-people ties between Sri Lanka and China.
This year, the historic coastal city of Galle was distinguished as the Star Partner of GITF – a recognition of its outstanding universal heritage, harmonious blend of European and South Asian architecture, and its enduring charm as a crossroads of cultures by the Indian Ocean.
The Sri Lanka pavilion emerged as a vibrant focal point of the exhibition, drawing widespread admiration. Traditional dance performances captivated the audience, reflecting the island nation's rich artistic heritage and the warmth of its people. Chinese travelers and industry professionals alike visited the booth with great enthusiasm, exploring Sri Lanka's diverse scenic destinations – from the misty highlands of Nuwara Eliya to golden coastlines and renowned wildlife sanctuaries.
Consul General Lashinka Dammullage reaffirmed the country's steadfast commitment to close collaboration with all stakeholders in promoting Sri Lanka Tourism across Southern China. Further emphasized that Sri Lanka looks forward to welcoming Chinese friends with enhanced facilities, sincerity, and mutual respect.
